I am a Black, queer writer, storyteller and communications strategist based out of Oakland, California.
Born and raised on the South Side of Chicago, I use stories to speak to the complex realities facing Black communities, including displacement, queer and trans identities and Black Joy. My experiences at Northwestern University (where I received a BA in Communications and African American Studies), in Madrid, Spain (where I taught English to grade school students), and Los Angeles, California (where I supported the development and production of reality television series) all influence my perspective on the world and approach to the work.
More than anything, I care about the liberation, joy and freedom of all Black people. I've spent the past 2 years supporting nonprofit organizations and small businesses centering racial equity and LGBTQ justice through my own consulting practice where it is my mission to help them accelerate movements and build community by sharing compelling stories online.
Lastly, if you slide to the top tab on the right, you'll notice some of my creative work. I'm also a short fiction writer. A lot of my work is around memory, masculinity and intimacy. Feel free to take a peek and let me know what you think.
